Roof, Posts and a Joint That Does Not Leak
A verandah is defined by where it meets the existing roof. That joint has to be sealed properly and sit at a height that keeps the roof draining.
Below that it is proportion. Posts too heavy and it looks like scaffolding, too light and it looks temporary. Getting that right makes it look like part of the house.
